Chat in English (英語で雑談) Part 116

Hey!!! you NEETs, nerds, YouTube-link spammers, pedophiles, neo-Nazis,
Yukorin enthusiasts, Nanako SOS admirers, Part-Time-Preachers,
Diplomats' spoiled sons, losers who can't remember Kanji characters,
Big-boobs fans, Weeaboos from all over the world, learners of Japanese
who are too lazy to update their Japanese blogs very often, and cunning
linguists. And Let's pray for the rehabilitation of the Internet-addicted

Here is the place to have a blast!!!!!

Then I responded to >>7 in >>8
"I don't know if it will be realized but the idea of chatting with
people in the thread was talked about before. I don't know much about
Skype but the plan is that would-be-participants email a representitive
(not decided who will be the representitive) of the thread with their Skype names.
Then the representitive handle the rest so that plural number of participants
can chat on Skype.(I heard as many as 25 people can join.) I know Skypecast
is over but I heard chatting the way I explained is possible.
If you join the chat, set your status as "Invisible" then maybe
you won't be talked to by your friend, I guess. Anyway, nobody knows if
the plan that chatting with people in Chat in English thread on Skype can be realized
but just in case, check the thread once in a while, although all the
posts there are written in English, including posts realated to
the plan of chatting on Skype.

Has anybody listened to her songs?
One of my friends in my university was her classmates whe he was a
high school student. She made very beautiful melody.

I think this is the second most popular song of hers.

For those who are interested in watching Japanese celebs walking
on the Green Carpet at TIFF (Tokyo International Film Festival).

Live streaming here.

956 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/10/18(土) 18:09:13
Green? Not Red Carpet?

957 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/10/18(土) 18:13:31
The film festival's concept is preserve nature.
That's why green, I think.

Yoshino Kimika is speaking in English.
Her dad was a pilot and she has lived in UK. She's just reading
already prepared in advance but as far as her pronunciation goes,
she sounds pretty fluent.

958 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/10/18(土) 18:18:50
Prime geek of Manga. lol

959 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/10/18(土) 18:22:11
Guests invited to TIFF at the opening ceremony looks like almost
all Japanes. Why bother translation?

960 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/10/18(土) 18:23:59
Why dodn't they use simultaneous interpreter?
I'm irritatred with the time lag.

961 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/10/18(土) 18:28:51
I'm fed up with these important guys making long speeches.
Let's kick off the festival without rituals.

962 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/10/18(土) 18:29:44
Hey, John Kabira, take off your pants.

964 :ギリギリ君 ◆D1A7cJqOrA :2008/10/18(土) 20:39:27
The video is quite a shock to me because a lot of weird leftists still
exist in USA.

965 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/10/19(日) 01:19:18

Next will be....Korea.

966 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/10/19(日) 01:21:11
The USA must be hard place to live for far lefts.
Americans are allergic to communism and socialism.
I guess they would have been arrested or stoned during McCarthyism.

967 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/10/19(日) 01:46:14
Comparing these,
American leftists look out of mainstreem and queer.

968 :アメリカ人 ◆oUpRKPX5A2 :2008/10/19(日) 07:23:48
Ah, thanks for explaining to them!
Actually, most Americans did not support the bailout so in fact, the protest groups were mainstream.
I'd much rather someone call me a "weird/queer leftist" then a far right social conservative.
far right McCain supporters: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRqcfqiXCX0

969 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/10/19(日) 07:39:31
Even though people in America say "left" and "right"--
For the most part, they're both in the middle
except for disagreeing on a few points
(e.g. abortion, same-sex marriage, immigration, universal health care)

970 :イギリス人:2008/10/19(日) 08:09:10
Japan is in a unique position where push-email has been a standard
cellphone feature since around 2000. Most other cellphones still have
'pull' email systems, which have to check the server for new messages.
The push systems, however, send the message directly to the phone. Like
someone slipping a message under your door, rather than having to knock
on a door and waiting for someone to answer you with the message.

971 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/10/19(日) 13:36:18
Even if Bailout plan is not supported by main stream, those people
in the wallstreet were not main stream.
I guess more nomarl looking people should take to the streets and
I know bail-out plan is especially not welcomed by republican supporters in the rural area, mainly whites.
Many republican politicians turned their back on Bush in the first vote.
They should take to the street too.

Aljazeera seems to be reporting one side of real america that
we japanese never know from our media which selects news source from
american mein stream media.

974 :アメリカ人 ◆oUpRKPX5A2 :2008/10/19(日) 14:15:13
Yea, if you are getting information filtered through not only the American MSM (main stream media)
but also the Japanese MSM, then you must have a very skewed view of our country.

Too be honest, I really hate politics because it seems to bring out the worst in people. Although I consider myself a Democrat,
some of my friends are Republican and we can have intelligent discussions and even agree on a lot of things. The problem with some people is that
they aren't willing to listen to different ideas and that is what causes ignorance and racism.

975 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/10/19(日) 14:19:16
Would you mind having sex with me?

976 :975:2008/10/19(日) 14:20:55
I'm a girl

977 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/10/19(日) 14:20:56
Terrorist, Muslim, Black, Christian nation are the key words for them.

I wish self-proclaimed Christian kataoka sukichi would go
there and share holy christian creed with them.

By the way, is "negro" O.K in America? Is that old man
who said "negro" safe?

978 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/10/19(日) 14:33:55
If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it must be a duck.

Isn't it offensive? He namely said "If Obama walks like a terrorist and quacks like
a terrorists, Obama must be a terrorist" Where is the evidence?

And that proverb imply racial thing? I happen to read
someone's writings on the net saying "If it walks like a jew and quacks like a jew,,"
"If it walks like a nigger and smells like it nigger"
Google hit these words. Hit numbers are small.

979 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/10/19(日) 16:46:04
I think american is too picky about the racial problems.
They can be more generous about what the politicians say..
Even someone said Asian is inferior to white or something,
I don't mind at all, coz I know that's just an indivicual thing.

980 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/10/19(日) 16:48:57
Just few minutes ago, I've heard the word memeshii (女々しい - means cowardly or weak
but as you know the kanji used is onnna=women), and the one accidentally said that word
apologized immediately beacause that is a discrimination word against women.
But you know, I realized that if you knew what women and men really are in real
means of life, everybody knows that men are weaker than women in a real concept.
So to use 女々しいis wrong and to say Danndannshii or Nannanshii, otokootokoshii(男男しい)
realy means "cowadly".

981 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/10/19(日) 17:31:27
Actually, there is a phrase "男男しい(雄雄しい)" which can
read ooshii in Japanese. 雄雄しい means gallant or heroic.
I agree with you in part, but I think men are stronger than women physically.

982 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/10/19(日) 17:56:26
女々しい is not used for women. it is used for the man who easily
whines and sobs like women.

983 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/10/19(日) 18:02:03
I think it's social burden rather than discrimination.
man is required to be like man. And that tendency is more
clear in the USA.

984 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/10/19(日) 18:02:55
To describe a man who is like a woman (feminine?)
but what I meant was woman is a lot stronger than man in real concept.
Hope you understand what I meant...if you still don't understand,
imagine how your sisters are, your mother is and your girl clasmates are...
I bet they are much stronger than you. (mentally of course.)

985 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/10/19(日) 18:05:15

"Negro" isn't a word that should be used.
It's offensive.

986 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/10/19(日) 18:08:22

If "memeshii" (女女しい=literally translating
"women women like") meant "feminine", it is probably ok. But "memeshii"'s real
meaning is "coward" or "weak". So it is kinda discrimination word.

987 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/10/19(日) 19:26:52
I love women, so it's ok.

988 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/10/19(日) 20:20:30
Thank you for your responese.
I've heard the concept of the push and pull thing and I think I understand
the anology you used. But I think I need to get into details, technical
side of the precedures of getting email to a cell phone to say I
really understand the difference between push and pull, which I sense
is difficult to understand.

989 :ギリギリ君 ◆D1A7cJqOrA :2008/10/19(日) 20:44:25
Both videos are interesting for me.
I always feel that UK is quite a different from US without its
language whenever I see movies or videos which are associated
with UK.
It is said that English people more hate bodily contact than south
Europeans or Japanese people or other countries'. however, UK bailout
protesters seem to like to bodily contact with police officers.
I think UK police officers are more patient about protesters than
that of US.

990 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/10/19(日) 22:36:44
It's nice weather these days, isn't it?

991 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/10/19(日) 23:12:12
I think it is time to start a new thread.

992 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/10/19(日) 23:20:56
Yes, only 9 more to go. Kim Joon Il is about to die
and someone said things are heading to a better direction, such as
North Korea will give rest of Japanese abductees including YOkota Megumi
back home(just a rumor though...)

993 :Chairman Meow:2008/10/19(日) 23:31:27
7 more after this. And Yokota Megumi cannot come home. King Jong-Il
and the Dear Leader's ministers have already eaten her. It is because
of this that they must lead a life of servitude to the PRC and make
us special nyanko-meshi. But with fish instead of kidnapped Japanese.

994 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/10/19(日) 23:39:11
mata omaeka....もういや。。。

995 :名無しさん@英語勉強中:2008/10/19(日) 23:53:40
女々しいotoko has negative connotation.
But 女々しい女 is o.k.

After all it's a discrimanation word for man.
